Stories and Reflections A new Blog from Together Lancashire

Together Lancashire has just launched a new blog site where we hope to compile some of the best writings about Christian social action and urban ministry in Lancashire.

The blog is at http://tlstoriesandreflections.blogspot.co.uk/  . Please share this link via email, your web site or by social media.  You can also follow it by email to make sure you receive each new article as it appears, just enter your email address in the box at the top and click the "submit" button.

We already have posted three articles  two of which  by Anne Morris and Greg Smith are responses to the Bishop of Blackburn's vision statement for the future of the church in Lancashire.  The third is the text of a talk by Marijke Hoek at the recent meeting of Preston Christian Action Network

We hope to publish at least one article each month and normally no more than one each week. We are looking for writers who can tell a story from their local work or experience and reflect on it in the light of the gospel and the scriptures. We hope this will generate discussion and debate and inform and equip the church for mission, especially in the context of the vital work of tackling poverty together.

If you would like to write a piece for us please send a draft (preferably as an MS Word file) of between 500 an 1200 words by email to greg.smith@together-lancashire.org.uk If we think it's suitable we will get it published pretty quickly. If we think it needs some editing we will get back to you to discuss it.

Articles should:

  • Be based on a story or experience in the context of a church, community or faith based project in Lancashire (including Blackpool and Blackburn with Darwen).
  • Concentrate on themes of poverty, vulnerability or human need, and ideally point hopefully to possibilities for redemption and human flourishing.
  • Contain some theological reflection on the issues that emerge from the story, perhaps linking with scripture, liturgy or prayer.
  • Highlight any learning experiences or examples of good practice from your work
  • Please don't overload the article with references to erudite publications, but feel free to insert hyperlinks to online sources. If you wish you can include a couple of photos or diagrams as jpeg files within your document.
