Collecting evidence on Benefit Sanctions -- A request from the Joint Public Issues Team - Baptist Methodist and United Reformed Churches working together

Continuing our work on welfare and UK Poverty, the Joint Public Issues Team's next piece of work will be on the issue of benefit sanctions. We will be producing a report and campaign – similar to the Truth & Lies campaign in 2013 – with a strong focus on the data and facts of the situation, together with the stories that demonstrate how the sanctions system is working (i.e. not working) and why an urgent review is needed.

We are looking for personal stories about how sanctions affect people's lives, and I wonder if you have any from your involvement with your foodbank, job club or advice project.

For more details about the kind of stories we are looking for, along with a basic template and some information about how the stories may be used, click here.

If you have any questions, you can get in touch with Anna Drew (Lead Media Officer at the Methodist Church) at drewa@methodistchurch.org.uk or 020 7467 5191.

Thank you for any help you can offer.
