Helping people to find jobs and improve their online skills : A meeting for Christians who are working or wanting to work in this area

You are invited to meet with others from the churches and Christian projects in Blackpool and the Fylde Coast who are involved in supporting unemployed people and others in becoming "digitally included".  We have a core group from the Blackpool area who are already working in this field and have agreed to meet together.. We are now extending the invitation to anyone from the churches of the Fylde coast who has a serious interest in this sort of work... and to some of the people over in Preston who we know have relevant experience.

Helping people to find jobs and improve their online skills :

How can we work better together and learn from each other.

Friday 6th February    from  9.45am  to 1pm

in Blackpool

It's hard to survive in today's world, even if all you want to do is find bus times, do some shopping for bargains, or claim benefits. When it comes to searching for jobs, or have the skills required in the workplace it's now almost essential to have some IT skills. Several local churches and projects are trying to help, and there is some funding available to support this kind of work. But there are barriers, and it takes a special kind of worker or volunteer to accompany and mentor unemployed or older people who have never used computers, and may have additional issues with language and literacy, or mental health.

Together Lancashire wants to encourage churches who are doing this work and to help others to get started. So we are sponsoring this session where we aim to:

  • Find out what each church or project is doing
  • Discover if there are common problems and useful solutions
  • Exchange technical tips about it systems and websites
  • Think about training staff and volunteers together
  • Consider possibilities of sharing resources and funding… etc.. etc.

So you are invited to a first gathering on

Friday 6th February    from  9.45am  to 12.15…

with the option of  getting some lunch together nearby before departing at 1pm.

In Blackpool

If you or other people working with you would like to be involved please RSVP to this email  to
