BLACKPOOL COUNCIL BUDGET PROPOSALS 2013 -14
Representatives from Blackpool Wyre and Fylde Council for Voluntary Service and One Blackpool were invited during November to meet with the Chief and Assistant Chief Executive of Blackpool Council regarding the news that the Council needed to implement £36 million of cost reductions by 2016. As reported at the time Blackpool Council wished to begin
consultation work with Voluntary, Community, Faith and Social Enterprise organisations about how these financial reductions might impact on the sector.
The Council is likely to be informed of its final funding allocation from central government during this week (16th to 20th December 2013). The Council will aim to finalise its budgets during February 2014.
In order to begin the planning for the consultation events One Blackpool and CVS representatives have met again with the Council's Assistant Chief Executive. Three dates have been booked to which you are invited to discuss how we might respond to the Council's proposal's to move from the current grant based system to one based more on commissioned services and the opportunities presented by this move for services currently provided by the Council.
The dates times and locations are as follows:
- 20th January – CLC – 1-5pm
- 21st January – Council Chamber, Town Hall – 1-5pm
- 22nd January – Solaris – 1-5pm
We will be working with Council representatives to create the agenda for these meetings and will contact you early in the New Year. The outcome from the meetings will be a report which will be presented to the Council with our views on the proposed transition to a commissioned rather than grant based service of support for Voluntary, Community Faith and Social Enterprise Organisations in Blackpool.
Regards
Vicky Wells, One Blackpool Programme Director
Richard Emmess, CVS BWF Chief Executive
