The Blackpool partnership has been successful with their bid to BIG Lottery's Advice Services Transition Fund.

A partnership led by Blackpool Citizens Advice Bureau has been successful in securing £350,000 over 2 years from BIG Lottery's Advice Services Transition.

The partnership is made up of Blackpool CAB, Fylde CAB, Age UK Blackpool, Age UK Lancashire, Disability First, the Centre for the Unemployed and Lancashire West CAB.

The partnership agreement and business plan will now be developed to secure the funding and progress the project.

DWP Wage Incentive

Incentives available to employers to support employment costs.

Job Centre Plus are currently promoting DWP wage incentives on offer to employers when taking on an unemployed 18 to 24 year old.

Two rates of payments are available dependent on the number of hours the young person will be working and this is a fantastic opportunity for organisations to help young people find the job they are looking for while also taking advantage of the incentives available.

Up to £2,275 could be paid to your organisation to support employments costs. There are also many young people who are looking to gain work experience by working in a voluntary capacity to build their CV and skills.

For more information click here to download a leaflet or click here to email the Job Centre Plus team.

Red Cross Therapeutic Care Service expand in Blackpool

Seeking both placements and volunteers to get involved.

Therapeutic care is a light touch through the clothes massage which is delivered to people dealing with a crisis. Feedback from service users is that the service greatly improves their mental health and well being. The service has been running very successfully at Blackpool Victoria hospital for several years.

The Red Cross wish to expand the service into the wider Blackpool community but needs volunteers and placements. Volunteers are provided with an extensive training programme which includes massage techniques. Ideal community placements would be Carers centres, disability groups and drop in centres.  The service is free of charge to placements and service users although donations are always welcome.

If you are interested in volunteering or in having the service delivered in your organisation please contact Melanie Anderson on 0161 8888 905 or email MelanieAnderson@redcross.org.uk.
