The Friendly Places initiative encourages faith groups to recognise that they have the capacity to provide places of support and acceptance for those struggling with mental health issues. We are encouraging faith groups to sign the Friendly Places Pledge:

I believe that there is a significant and positive role for faith communities to play in the support of mental health.

I pledge to support faith groups in my community to become Friendly Places which welcome and support those struggling with their mental health.

For faith groups, the pledge is about:

Recognising the small, intentional things that make a big difference to those struggling with mental health who are a part of the faith group's community

Recognising that those suffering with their mental health should not be placed on the margins of the community

Recognising the role that faith groups already play in providing welcome and support

Encouraging further practical steps to provide support and tackle mental health stigma and discrimination – from making sure that there is someone at the door to welcome everyone, to ensuring that those in need can be signposted to professional services

You can find out more and sign online – it's quick and easy – at www.faithaction.net/friendlyplaces
