Christians Against Poverty are coming to Blackpool on Tuesday 23rd June 2015 to host an information breakfast for church leaders from the town. This event provides an amazing opportunity for you to find out new ways of reaching the poor and marginalised in your community with the practical help they need and the good news of the Gospel. If you are not a church leader but you're interested in the work of CAP you are also welcome to join us for this event.

The event will consist of a 30 minute presentation on the different ways churches can get involved with CAP followed by Q&A. We will also be providing a FREE cooked breakfast.

To book on to the breakfast people need to email  churchpartnership@capuk.org  with their Church Name, their Name, and their Breakfast Choice.  I will call on Friday next week.

Dear Greg,

I'm so sorry I wasn't able to join you for the meeting today. It has been an extremely busy period here at CAP with new Debt Centre training taking place this week. Would we be able to talk at some point next week? I'm out of office at events and meetings until Thursday morning but it would be good to speak to you then?

Dear Will,

It would be really great if you and/or Dave Tudor could join us for this meeting and we'd give you some time to talk about what you want to achieve in Blackpool with your CAP meeting and how we can help promote it through our Together Lancashire in Blackpool networks...  (Dick.. please read down to see what this is all about)

Dear Colleagues,

Just a reminder to confirm the date time and place of the meeting.  I've had an email from Jeanette

as    Thursday 21st May     from 12 noon...

We can hold the meeting at St Thomas'. Chauce Street FY1 3NJ. It will be in the underground where we meet for the workclub.  People can park in the car park and the entrance to the underground is furthest away from the carpark entrance down some steps.

I will provide tea and coffee and biscuits if others want to bring lunch?  I will get there for 11.45.

See you then

So I hope you can make it and suggest we each bring some butties, or maybe some food that can be shared.

Please also invite anyone else you know who is interested in helping people to get jobs or cope better with doing things online.

In case of problems on the day Jeanette's Mobile is above and mine in the signature below.

I think our agenda will be something like this, but it will be very informal

  • Introductions & brief prayer
  • update on what each group has been doing and issues that are arising
  • a look at some online resources that people are using or may want to use.
  • how our work might fit into wider things such as the Blackpool faith audit process, the food providers group, funding bids and the possibility of a Faith Covenant with Blackpool council
  • any other concerns
  • prayer for each other
Looking forward to seeing you there.

Hi Greg,

It was great to speak to you today. Having discussed it briefly with my manager (cc'd), our feeling is that we would like to keep the date set on the 23rd June. We run these breakfasts in 3's so we will go straight from Blackpool to Liverpool and then to Rochdale. So changing the date this late on will impact on the other events and the cost for us.

However, I'm really aware from what you've said that if this event is going to be a success we will really need your support and wisdom in bringing the church leaders and influential individuals together. I'm just so sorry it clashes with your holiday plans. Would you still be willing to work with myself Dick and Dave Tudor to bring a group together?

We have confirmed a venue to host the breakfast which is Franky and Bennies on Festival Park (FY1 5EP). We will be covering the cost of breakfast for delegates and will be presenting for 30mins on our 4 ministries followed by Q&A.

We will be calling and emailing the churches on our database from Blackpool to invite them, but any support you can offer to publicise the event and bring a good group together would be very helpful.

Warm Regards,

Will Holt

Dear Will,

Yes I spoke to Dick... certainly would be supportive of this and will promote through our netowrks.. Unfortunately the date clashes with my holidays so I can't attend myself but I guess Dick could.. and between us we could draw in some networks of key people...We have some really good contacts with the Council too and a number of existing projects which we are trying to document in our faith audit... Also an emerging group of Job Club providers...

One thing that may complicate and confuse.. there are some people in Blackpool churches who are wanting to get together as a Church Action on Poverty group... so we may have to be careful with name checks and making it clear how the two different ministries complement each other.

I'm very happy to chat with you...Thursday 13th should be a good day for you to call

Hi Greg,

My name is Will and I work for Christians Against Poverty (CAP). I was speaking earlier today to Dick Cartmell regarding an information breakfast we are holding to inform church leaders in Blackpool about the work of CAP to reach the poor and marginalised through the local church.

Dick mentioned that you would be a good point of contact to help promote this event to the church leaders in Blackpool who belong to Together Lancashire group. I have attached the formal invitation we send out to church leaders which explains more about the event.

Would you be free to speak briefly on the phone about how to best promote this event to church leaders in the area. My number is below and I work normal office hours but will be out of the office now until thursday 14th May.
