Subject: Alleviation of Energy Poverty

Good morning

We are working as Christians to end energy poverty. Over 5 million people are in energy poverty with 25.000 deaths each winter from cold in the UK. The NW has the worst track record. Save the Children state 1 in 3 children are born into poverty in the UK – the worst track record in Europe.

We have developed a new insulation that when fitted to Passivhaus standards can save 90% of heating energy, carbon and costs. It lifts the occupant/household out of energy poverty and transforms comfort, health and well being. We are also working on community energy schemes where the installation generates cash incomes each month and include the energy poor (OAPs and long term infirmed/out of work) in community with neighbours,  transforming the energy poor into the new "energy rich". These are zero carbon installations.

The company, 3rd Way Commonwealth Ltd,  will be owned by the Joy at Work Foundation who focus on developing Christians who are working to make a difference to alleviate poverty. We provide professional and personal development for Values Based Leadership eie people, especially Christians, who are trying to live the faith in the work place. We aim for this to become similar to the Ashoka Foundation http://uk.ashoka.org/ but focussed primarily on support of Christian Social Entrepreneurs working to alleviate poverty. We work to encourage, develop and support the emerging movement to alleviate energy poverty. I was part of the team that brought Bill Peters and Martin Dent together to co-found the Jubilee 2000 initiative to forgive 3rd World Debt. I am a part of the follow on from this, the Forum for Human Security www.cauxforum.net  which advises UN Economic and Social Devt Council at high level.

I have been asked to work with one of the Directors of DECC (Dept for Energy & Climate Change), also BRE (Building Research Centre Global) and TSB (|Technology Strategy Board) to contribute to efforts to develop a roadmap to 2050 ie 80% carbon reduction.

We are strategic tier one suppliers to Birmingham City Council and Carillion won the contract to be sole Green Deal provider mainly because they included our 3rd Way Super Insulation in their product line up. We are listed as a strategic tier one supplier to Carillion.

I have a meeting with the UN in April and will attend UN Geneva in October. It would be good to have a few initial systems operating and case studies by then. One of my associates is a world leading authority on bio-digesters. There are 20,000 of his bio-digesters working with 98% success in remote rural communities in India, Nepal, Africa and Chins. This is the bench mark of best practise in getting villages off cooking fires and on to clean energy. The smoke from cooking fires is the world's second biggest killer after dirty water. The children effectively smoke 70 cigarettes a day by inhaling the smoke from the fires. It is the main cause of desertification – we lose the area of 3 Switzerlands a year of productive agricultural land due to desertification by people taking fuel wood from forests. Once we have established community energy schemes and case studies in the UK then we will take to overseas partners to electrify villages and support development efforts. We can get 43% more food to market and income for poor farmers simply by eliminating loss of food harvested due to heat degradation in a world where 1bn are hungry and 1bn malnourished.

All great journeys start with the first steps.

We are looking for people to become part of the senior management and leadership team as one professional family under God. We have opportunities for an Operations Manager/Director, Sales and Marketing Manager/Director, a number of Master Installers – similar to dry lining – we will train to install to Passivhaus standards, also office based sales and customer services together with production operators and team leaders. We are also looking for good HR and vocational training people with whom we can outsource this service.

We are looking for pilots over summer with strategic partners so we can prepare to take to scale together at the end of 2014. Please advise if you could help with introductions and please keep me advised of future events.

Kind regards
