More on Funding to Tackle Fuel Poverty - deadline 26 August 2014

We just received further information on these schemes

I have indeed heard of the Scottish Power Energy People Trust as they fund us - they do indeed cover the whole of the UK. Our initial funding to start the project back in 2010 came from them and we got a second grant of just under 40k for the project in 2014. We can't ourselves now apply for any further funding from them and i see on their website that:

Due to the high volume of applications already received we are unable to accept further applications until further notice.

But I think it's definitely worth someone in Preston keeping an eye on it and making an application to them for the August deadline and if we can support that in any way please let me know.

We keep all of the grants from energy companies under review and in terms of grants to organisations working with people in fuel poverty the other 5 of the big 6 are not really providing anything.

  • E On Energy Action Fund - just our sort of thing but currently closed for applications
  • EDF Green Fund - just about renewables rather than fuel poverty - closed last August and no new deadline on the website
  • British Gas - focused on areas near their employees and also a partnership with Shelter
  • Scottish and Southern - funding available in Scotland only
  • nPower - their corporate partner is Macmillan and although they do fund community projects I can't find any advice on how to apply.

All the Big 6 though do have funding available for people/households in difficulty - I'm guessing you're familiar with Charis who run the schemes for 4 of them?

I hope that's of some use and do let me know if I can be of further assistance.
